The TV Theme Medley

16 March 2010 32 comments

Two Fredriks (but I’m really just one person) performing all your favorite TV themes in a single medley.

Lots of people had started to question my ability to make good videos, after the failure of “Vampire Bride”. So, I decided to make another medley of popular songs, like my success “32 songs in 8 minutes”. But I didn’t want to just rehash that idea, because I’ve always had the intention of only doing new  things. I don’t want to repeat myself.
So, I went with the theme “TV themes”, and tried merging two recordings into the same screen. Which apparently worked quite convincingly, because I’ve had hundreds of people asking why they haven’t heard of my twin before.

The video was a success, reaching one million views in 10 days.

Song list:
0:01 Two and a Half Men
0:22 The Simpsons
0:36 O.C
1:00 Naruto
1:11 Family Guy
1:41 Married with Children
1:57 Cheers
2:16 That 70’s Show
2:41? Big Love
2:58 Freaks and Geeks
3:18 Malcolm in the Middle
3:35 X-Files
3:55 Firefly
4:09 The Office
4:24 The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
4:44 Scrubs
4:54 True Blood
5:27 Charles in Charge
5:38 The Big Bang Theory
5:55 How I Met Your Mother
6:05 Mission? Impossible
6:14 Friends

This is also one of my favourites =)

A question: Did you have to memorize all of the lyrics to the themes, or did you have some sort of teleprompter helping you out? I mean memorizing the lyrics for Naruto for example might not be easy because of the language difference haha.

  • FreddeGredde (author) said:

Thanks! And yes, I memorized all of the lyrics. I played it all the way through at least.. well, let’s say 50 times, so make sure that everything was perfect. The lyrics kind of stick after that. :)

  • Russel said:

Yeah I suppose with that kind of repetition the lyrics would become easier to memorize. The first time I ever watched this I was blown away for the first part, then you played The Office theme, at which point I sent this video to as many people as I could because I loved it so much. I hope I made you tons of money in adsense revenue because of that, haha. Good luck on the new album!

  • FreddeGredde (author) said:

Did you send the the video through my website, or the direct link? Because I don’t get any adsense revenue from youtube, unfortunately.

  • Russel said:

Oh it was sent through YouTube. That was a long time ago when this video first came out that I did that, so I had no idea about your website at that time. Sorry about that =(

  • FreddeGredde (author) said:

Oh, it’s okay. :) This new website is barely a week old, so don’t worry about it!

Has very well sung a song from a serial “Friends”. Professionally you stick together videorecordings with the double. I wait for new video! <3

  • FreddeGredde (author) said:

Fast, grejen är att den keyboard jag har bara är en midi controller. Den har inga ljud i sig, utan du måste koppla den till en ljudbank eller dator för att kunna spela upp saker! Så, alla ljud jag använde var VST-instrument genom datorn. :)

  • samuel karabetian said:

  • FreddeGredde (author) said:

That was amazing! Memorizing all of those lyrics must of been a pain, I can’t believe that you are able to memorize that much stuff. And the thing you do with the two Fredriks is really cool. I hope you make more videos like this! (by the way, all your other videos are awesome also) :)

You’re really awesome and i realy like your videos. Just noticed that you sang ”when the rain starts to fall”, it should hav been ”pour”, but who gives a shit when you’re that good you can do whatever you want!

Don’t really know why I’m writing this in english, I’m Swedish :P

  • FreddeGredde (author) said:

Thanks! And yeah, I’ve later learned that it’s “starts to pour”, but for some reason I didn’t hear that when I listened to the song before recording it!

  • Edwin said:

    Hey Fredde :)..

You’re really great.. looked at all your videos and YOU MAKE IT LOOK WAY TOO EASY!.. You probably spend a lot of work putting your videos together and you should really do a “blooper” video of a “making of” video so people get a grasp of how much work it is and how difficult it is to get a good finished video!

  • FreddeGredde (author) said:

Edwin: Haha, I have kept a couple of “blooper videos”, but they’re embarrassing. :) When I do mistakes while recording, I don’t laugh and try to “save the situation”, but instead I just look disappointed and annoyed. :P I don’t think anyone wants to see that!

At first, I was impressed by your cloning videos and your musical talent, but then you covered the Firefly theme song, so now I like you as a person, too.
    Thanks for the cool videos!
