So, it’s been almost two months since the release of my second album, Brighter Skies. With no real marketing or collaborators, the start has been slow, except for the support from my lovely “fans”/friends who are seemingly always there for me. :) So thank you, again!
The reception seems to be positive though, especially from prog rock fans (it is a prog rock album after all), so I figured I’ll share reviews and comments here, both good and bad! Maybe it can help people decide if they should give the album a try or not!
And here are reviews:
9/10 review in DPRP by Nathan Waitman.
5/5 video review by Allen Thompson.
5/5 by Mxyzptlk at amazon.com.
4.5/5 by UnsaltedCatfish at sputnikmusic.com.
3.5/5 (still a positive one!) by Matt Di Giordano at progulator.com.
Also, plenty of nice reviews and ratings at progarchives.com!
Have opinions to share? Send a comment with a link or your review, and any help with spreading the word would also be appreciated! :)
really liked the album! Keep up the good work Fredde!
Thank you, Blaise. :)
Hey Fredde!
Keep up the awesome work and music my friend, its been a wonderful thing following your work. In my opinion, your album is a 4.8/5, for sure.
Please, can you provide the lyrics from this new cd in some section on your site?
Thank you very much for your contribution to prog music!
Hey Lucas, thanks a lot!
Hmmmm, whether you buy the physical or digital CD, you get the booklet with all the lyrics included. Buuuut, okay, fine, I will add the lyrics on the website as well!
Take care!
Damn, I bought it on itunes, but I don’t seem to be finding the booklet, I’ll keep looking for it anyway!
(oh, I’ve visted Gothenborg and stockholme in august, loved your country!)
I have a friend that is getting really into songwriting/composing, if you could give her one special tip or heads up, what would that be?
Most success to you my friend, take care!
Hey Lucas! I’ve sent a private message with the booklet attached. :)
As for composing, I personally think it’s a good idea to start with the basic chords and rhythm, coming up with some original/fresh chord progressions that still sound nice, and then try to improvise some melodies/vocals on top, over and over again until you’ve found melodies you like! And after that, you add more instruments and layers if you want, and you come up with better lyrics for your melodies, and just polish overall until you’re happy with the result. :) That’s basically how I usually do it anyway!
Hope that helped, and thank you!
F.G.You already sold your guitar?
Niko: Yes, I think I did it back in July! I auctioned my instruments on my facebook page.
F.G.Sorry I Just carefully listen to yor works you re good at obtain the classical arrangements may with a new toolthey will become even more expressive in any case you re doing fine.
Nice work on the album, man! Keep up the good work! Have you considered signing with a prog oriented label like InsideOut or Evil Ink?
Hey, thanks James!
I have, but then people said it was a bad idea, that you don’t get much of the share, that they usually want you to tour and be active with promoting yourself and so on, and that’s not for me. But what do I know.
Hello F.G how are you doing where music why so guiet?
Niko: Well, after “big projects”, I always get really tired of making music. These days I’m traveling in South America, but I’m slowly getting back my enthusiasm in music, so I might start making something new in a few months, I don’t know!
hey Freedie I have missed hearing from you. Your music is amazing and has always brought joy to me even in some of the darkest times for me and I appreciate that so much. it been a while since we have heard from you and I am curious to know what’s going on in your life all over. well hopefully music comes soon and I miss hearing from you. Thank you for being an idol that I can look up to. Thank you also for your music being there in the toughest times.
Hey Shelley, thanks for your message! :) Well, in july last year I actually sold all my instruments, and everything I owned, and started traveling.. Got so tired of making music. I’ve been in southern europe and this year I’ve been traveling in south america. I’m slowly starting to get back an interest in music though, so maybe next year I will release something! I will never make music regularly again though…
Thanks again! :)
Hey Freddie, I came here to tell you that I really really really miss hearing from you! I hope you are alright and have fun with whatever you are doing at the moment. Thank you for being so inspirational and thanks for your music.
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon! :)
Hey, Freddie!
I’ll admit I’m saddened that you won’t make music regularly anymore, but you have to do what makes YOU happy! I really miss hearing from you though; maybe you could share some stories from your travels on here or on youtube?
In any case, I hope you have solid ground to wall on!
Patrick
