Beethoven’s classic composition, rearranged for the guitar.
I was gonna say that this video started it all, but it really didn’t. I only got a couple of views per day, and I remember being really happy when it got a hundred views in one day! (These days I get 20 000 views per day for my videos, so I’ve come quite far since then.)
Anyway, I was surfing around on YouTube, I don’t remember what I was looking for, but noticed that none of the guitar versions of Für Elise were the full songs! So I decided to learn and record it, just to fill the gap, so to speak!
And yeah, the rest is history. :P
(Tabs can be found here.)
Nice playing! I watched your Queen cover on another site (liveleak.com) and saw your freddegredde watermark, which lead me here.
You have a poll asking what we would like. I prefer to hear what passions you’ll share.
All the best,
Michael*
As popular and timeless as this song is, I’ve never heard the whole thing until now. Thanks for sharing! :-)
Nice post. I was checking continuously this blog and I am impressed! Extremely useful info particularly the last part :) I care for such info a lot. I was seeking this certain info for a long time. Thank you and good luck.
You are truly amazing! I hope your exposure here makes you rich beyond your wildest dreams. There are few (if any) mainstream performers who possess half your talent. Thanks for sharing.
An fascinating discussion is price comment. I think that you must write more on this matter, it won’t be a taboo topic but usually persons are not sufficient to talk on such topics. To the next. Cheers
tomysl: Hmm.. I have no idea what you meant there. :)
Excellent job, VERY well played Fredrik. Bravo. There’s some really difficult stuff going on there. I like how you go for the harmonic for the highest note of the ‘turnaround’.
I wonder if Claire De Lune would translate to classical guitar well, or if it’s a little too spare? Such a great melody…check out Rick Wakeman’s short take on it on piano on the Legend 2000 dvd ( youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blrQeQ2mCQc )
Hey, thanks Dan! Claire de Lune is a nice piece, and from what I can hear, it could translate well to classical guitar. Maybe a few difficult chords though, because of the limitations of guitar. It’s nothing I have time to figure out these days though, what with all the stress of an album release and stuff. :)
Nice, ;) Gillar verkligen ditt plinkande. det var jesper.nu som ledde mig hit
Oh, I love it so much! It’s my favorite composition, and on guitar it’s so beautiful. I would never expect it.
I came across your website by chance after seeing your Queen Cover on another website. I am totally impressed and insipred by your innovation and dedication. So much so that I now plan to take up the guitar and piano and learn to play them. Both instruments which I have had in my home for many years, but never really made much of an effort to play. You are truly an inspiration to challenge oneself and reach new heights. Good luck with your album!
Hi Fredrik,
Great stuff! Even the mid-piece, you performed it better than I usually play it – on the piano… Nice work!
Oj, vad du gärna får sitta och plinka den där när jag ska sova. :-)
Jäääättebra!!!

Simply, the Best! :) Good luck friend !!
Dude that’s pretty rad freddy…you should do some star wars tunes…lol. and also any cool soundin acoustic songs you think are rad to push some people toward learning new stuff…keep it up.
Fredde,
Any chance of getting your “Für Elise” into MIDI or preferably LilyPond formats? I’ve been watching this video regularly for ages – it is fantastic stuff – I never get tired of it! I couldn’t find anywhere on your site where I could actually pay for it . .
Regards,
Phil.
Philip: Midi!? Then I think you might as well download a regular für elise midi file and change its instrument to guitar, and lower it an octave. :P
As for paying for my music, my videos are free to watch online, but you can download the mp3’s at freddegredde.com/music.
Thanks! ^^
