Create portals on walls and surfaces to solve puzzles.
GAMEPLAY: An extremely clever game mechanic and well designed puzzles. Probably my favorite first-person game since I normally don’t like this perspective.
AUDIOVISUALLY: Quite sterile, but it has a strong visual identity, and the sound effects are cute. So is the Still Alive end credits song.
STORY/PRESENTATION: I really like the non-intrusive storytelling. There are little secret compartments with clues, and mostly you’re confused what’s going on until the clever final part of the game.
MULTIPLAYER: None, but in the Switch version two controllers can pilot the character, so it’s a very natural/smooth “okay I’ll try now” passing back and forth without having to pass the controller.
I think it holds up great! Much shorter and easier than I remembered it though. But definitely one of the absolute classics and a must-play.
