Be a master of the kitchen as you prepare dishes as efficiently as possible!
GAMEPLAY: Throw ingredients to your friend, loudly discuss who takes care of the dishes and who cuts the tomato, and then cheer as you get 3 stars on a mission. It’s all super fun, except for the difficulty spikes caused by annoying hazards.
AUDIOVISUALLY: For being an indie, the 3D visuals are clean and professional looking. Music is very catchy.
STORY/PRESENTATION: The loading times are pretty long, but the “worst” part of the game is the plot. I think a road trip theme would have been better.
MULTIPLAYER: One of the best co-op games ever, IF you’re able to collaborate without becoming enemies! Don’t even bother with the single player though.
I really loved the first game, and this one is more of the same, plus a nice throwing mechanic. Just wish there were way more stages without hazards and platforming elements.
I completely missed that you have a Game Reviews tab, very neat! Out of all the games you’ve reviewed I’ve only played Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons but I plan to play Gris. I enjoy the atmospheric indie experience, but also satisfying gameplay. Your retro platformer and metroidvania preference is very different to my own game taste. I grew up only playing PC with puzzle (such as Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and eventually Myst and Grim Fandango), strategy games (such as Civilization, Age of Empires and Heroes of Might and Magic) and simulation games (such as Rollercoaster Tycoon and The Sims) as my main appeal.
My two more up-to-date favorite companies, Playdead and Supergiant Games only put out good games with killer music integrated into the gameplay and story which I highly recommend. Playdead has released two sidescrolling “puzzle” platformers (actually more about atmosphere) and Supergiant two isometric hack and slash type games, an RPG “sports game” (don’t ask or please do xd) and a rougelike I haven’t played yet. The game Transistor even have a button integrated in the game where your character stops to just hum along to the music that is playing at any given time. That is devotion to the music.
On another note, one of the few metroidvania games I’ve played is Ori and the Blind Forest that I HIGHLY suggest. :)
And finishing this rambling, just so we could feel like having some sort of gaming connection lmao, as I was a PC slave I never played Mario for example (except a fair bit of Super Mario Bros 2), but a side-scrolling platformer that took my young heart was instead Commander Keen. A goofy 6 part game series with lots of hair pulling and death screens.
Take care! Och lättare nästan att skriva på engelska.
Hey! I don’t know if we’ve talked before, and if you’re in the discord channel, so I’ll just give you a short reply here:
Yes, a lot of people grow up with just PC and therefore get a completely different taste for games. I did play PC games too, but never really cared for any of them, except the Monkey Island series. I played some Heroes of Might and Magic, it’s one of my brothers’ favorite series, but it’s just not my thing. I played Commander Keen too, and thought it was very lackluster compared to Mario. :D I’ve played Supergiant Games’ latest game, Hades (will be added soon). I sort of hated it at first since I don’t like roguelites, but it grew on me, and I think it’s a pretty good game except for the repetitive gameplay. I’ve skipped Playdead’s games since they clearly don’t focus on gameplay.
Ori and the Blind Forest was alright, but too linear and hand-holdy for my tastes. The sequel is better (also to be added soon among my reviews), but still not among my favorite metroidvanias.
Take care you too! :D
