Samus is back to explore a new labyrinth with some new abilities.
GAMEPLAY: It simply feels great to move around, aim, jump, very polished movement. You’re guided quite heavily all the time though, it’s almost like separate stages that you often have no choice but to move on from as soon as the option is there. It’s more linear than I prefer my Metroidvanias.
AUDIOVISUALLY: The music isn’t memorable, but I like the atmosphere and effects. I like the visuals too, the character animation is superb and really enhances the game feel!
STORY/PRESENTATION: There are some cutscenes that are pretty cool, but I don’t really care about the plot. There’s also rarely any other goal than “reach your ship” throughout the entire game, and that’s not very motivational.
The gameplay is great, but the linearity and purposelessness makes it a less interesting game than a lot of other indie games of the genre.
